I did have it in my mind that I’d seen at least some of Super Size Me, but after watching it all it turns out that I hadn’t seen it at all. That said, I have seen a lot of footage that wasn’t in the film, so I’m not quite sure what I’ve seen.
Anyway, was a very enjoyable watch. Morgan Spurlock is a highly likeable guy, the experiment itself was interesting, the points were valid and it was fairly informative.
The point of the film’s not that eating McDonalds every day for 3 meals is going to be bad for you, but that take away does adversely effect your health, to think about where the line should be drawn for personal responsibility and highlighting how take away corporations are changing how we eat.
McDonalds itself shouldn’t be the sole focus of people’s vitriol, but they should be aware of how other companies follow where McDonalds leads; with an example being the ‘super size’.
Good companion piece to Food, Inc. and a great personalisation of consumer mentality.
