A couple of times a year at work we do a weight loss challenge, usually after Christmas and then over summer. Nobody ever really keeps the weight off because it’s the sort of office where we all go drinking and there’s an almost constant supply of biscuits and treats brought in by some well meaning colleague.
I’ve been involved in about 4 now, winning the first one and then coming nowhere in the others, but this time I was determined to lose it more permanantly.
Around the end of last year, start of this year I had started a diet and exercising more, however around March I… lost my motivation and put it all back on. I was probably close to 13st 2lbs at my lowest but quickly put that back on to start my weigh in at 14st 1lb on the 8th July, fat fat.
I have constantly ‘battled’ with my weight and actually was 14st 12lbs when I moved to London almost 5 years ago, which is very heavy for a guy that’s only 5′ 8″ (maybe 5′ 9″ if I stand up tall). I just have a massive sweet tooth, like junk food and have an aversion to exercise regimes.
Since that time I’ve been up and down between 13st and 14st a few times, but this time I was determined to actually lose the fat, if not be slim.

The 5lbs jump at the start can most likely be attributed to weighing in after lunch on the Friday and before breakfast on the Monday, but the rest has just been diet, I’ve hardly exercised at all (though I will have to start), plus I never had any dinner or liquids after 5pm yesterday so I’m probably at least 2lbs heavier as my walking around weight, but that’s still lighter than I’ve been in a long time.
In total I lost over 10% of my body weight and 20lbs, woohoo!
I do still have to lose around 20lbs though in order to get rid of these love handles. I reckon another 6 – 8 weeks or so should get me there.
